Indiana has long been a state that understands the value of a dollar — earned honestly, spent wisely, and accounted for faithfully. As someone who has spent decades in both the business community and public life, I know firsthand that the principles of fiscal discipline are not merely good policy. They are a moral commitment to the people who work hard and trust their government to be worthy stewards of what they’ve earned.

That is precisely why I am proud to offer my full and enthusiastic endorsement of Elise Nieshalla for Indiana State Comptroller.

Since taking office in 2023, Elise has upheld the highest standards of fiscal responsibility in the provision of accounting and reporting of state funds, the disbursement of tax revenues to local units of government, and the transparent stewardship of Hoosier tax dollars. She has brought to this office not just competence, but character — and in public service, character is everything.

Under her watch, Indiana has maintained a AAA credit rating, a balanced budget, healthy cash reserves, and one of the lowest debt-per-capita standings in the nation — just $169 per person — making Indiana the 4th lowest debt per capita state in the country. These are not just numbers on a spreadsheet. They represent real freedom for real Hoosier families.

But what truly distinguishes Elise Nieshalla is that she has refused to stop at Indiana’s borders. At a moment when Washington’s fiscal recklessness threatens to undo the disciplined work of every state in this Union, Elise has stepped forward as a national leader. As Chair of the National Debt Crisis Task Force, she has assembled a coalition of governors, state legislators, and state financial officers — now numbering over 90 — who have sent a unified call to President Trump and Congress to take immediate, serious action on America’s federal debt crisis and restore our nation’s fiscal solvency.

She has drawn on Indiana’s own remarkable journey — from fiscal crisis to national model — to demonstrate to Washington that determined discipline in budgeting, debt repayment, and spending cuts is not only possible, but necessary. Indiana did it. America can too. And Elise Nieshalla is one of the clearest, most credible voices making that case.

She is nationally recognized for this leadership, and her priorities — defending free enterprise, demanding accountability, ending investments that undermine American values and fiduciary duty, and making state government more efficient through technology and streamlined systems — reflect exactly the kind of common-sense conservatism Hoosiers expect and deserve.

Prior to serving as Comptroller, Elise served as President of the Boone County Council and President of the Indiana County Councils Association, building a record of trusted public service at every level of government she has touched. Her roots run deep — a seventh-generation Hoosier whose leadership is grounded in faith, family, fiscal responsibility, and freedom. Those are not talking points. For Elise, they are a way of life.

As former Chairman of the Indiana Republican Party, I have had the privilege of knowing many dedicated public servants. Elise Nieshalla stands among the best of them — not because she seeks recognition, but because she serves with the quiet, steady conviction of someone who understands that good government is ultimately an act of service to God and neighbor.

Indiana is fortunate to have her. And in 2026, I encourage every Hoosier who cares about the future of this state — and this nation — to cast their vote to elect Elise Nieshalla as Indiana State Comptroller.
