Indiana’s State Comptroller expressed delight with the state’s financial condition but concern about the rising national debt in a wide-ranging interview Thursday in Franklin.
Elise Nieshalla, the state comptroller, stopped by the Daily Journal for an interview during a visit to Franklin to meet with local and Johnson County officials. Nieshalla took office in 2023, after being appointed by then-Gov. Eric Holcomb to serve the remaining three years of former comptroller Tera Klutz’s term. As State Comptroller, Nieshalla oversees an office tasked with accounting and reporting the state’s monies, payroll, paying the state’s bills and distributing tax revenues to local government units.
